Time and time again women are told to play hard to get in order to get a man to like them, but this may not always be the right way to approach the situation.

While some men do enjoy the cat and mouse game, not every man is wired the exact same way. Just like women, some men are more interested in serious relationships while others are interested in short term flings and enjoy “the hunt”. Daters who have tried to play hard to get by not answering phone calls and texts to ignoring someone at the  bar have found the these tactics often backfire. Some men are insecure and the immediate rejection will lead them to finding other options.

Many women think that if the goal is harder to get to that just means the men will have to and want to work harder to achieve that goal. That is simply not always true. In the end, once the goal has been obtained it is likely that they no longer see the reasons they were trying to get you, because they were only focused on the chase. Being more upfront, but not overly upfront, with possible daters could leave you with more options and a better relationship.
